Answer:

a) atom: the smallest particle of a chemical element that can exist.

b) molecule: a group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental unit of a chemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction.

c) chemical reaction: a process that involves rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of a substance, as distinct from a change in physical form or a nuclear reaction.

d) Compound: any substance composed of identical molecules consisting of atoms of two or more chemical elements. eg- methane molecule.

e) Elements: the fundamental materials of which all matter is composed.

f) Mixture: a material made up of two or more different substances which are not chemically combined.

g) displacement reaction: a chemical reaction in which one element is replaced by another in a compound.

h) neutralisation reaction: a chemical reaction in which acid and a base react quantitatively with each other. In a reaction in water, neutralization results in there being no excess of hydrogen or hydroxide ions present in the solution.

I) combination reaction: A combination reaction is a reaction where two or more elements or compounds combine to form a single compound. Such reactions are represented by equations of the following form: X + Y → XY.

j) chemical formula: a set of chemical symbols showing the elements present in a compound and their relative proportions.

hope it helps you...
