Schottky defect :

  • ➮ If in an ionic crystal of type A B , equal number of cations and anions are missing from their lattice sites so that the electrical neutrality is maintained, it is called Schottky defect.

Frenkel defect :

  • If an ion leaves its site from its lattice site and occupies the interstitial site and maintains electrical neutrality, then it is called Frenkel defect.
