a) TERRACE FARMING: is very effective in conserving soil in mountainous regions. the hill slopes are cut into terrace so that the speed at which the rain water flows down is reduced. cross are grown on these terrace.
b)STRIP CROPPING: is the method of growing different crops in narrow strips, usually along the natural contours of the land.

Whenever it rains, instead of rain carrying away the soil nutrients and plants down the slope, they flow to the next terrace. Every step has an outlet that channels the water to the next step.

Strip cropping is a practice of growing field crops in narrow strips either at right angles to the direction of the prevailing wind, or following the natural contours of the terrain to prevent wind and water erosion of the soil.

(c) planting of shelter belts:
