a) Meristematic tissues are those tissues that are capable of cell division. It consists of activity dividing cells. They are simple tissues and the intercellular spaces are absent in them. The cells that make up the meristematic tissues are known as meristems.

On the basis of its position, we have three types of meristematic tissues →

  • Apical Meristem ⇒ They are found at the growing tips of the roots and shoots.
  • Intercalary Meristem ⇒ They are found in the leaves and internodes at the intercalary position.
  • Lateral Meristem ⇒ They are found in the stems and roots on the lateral side.

b) The outer layer of the bark of the tree is known as periderm. They are made of phellogen, phellem, and phelloderm.

c) A waxy-water repellent substance that is present in the cuticle of the plants that consists of highly polymerized esters of fatty acids is known as cutin. They are present in an excess amount in the leaves of desert plants to prevent water loss by transpiration.

d) Lignin is a substance that is present in the cell wall of dead cells. They provide rigidity and act as cements of the cells. They are usually present in sclerenchyma tissues.

e) Chlorenchyma is a type of parenchyma that contains chloroplast which has chlorophyll that is essential for performing photosynthesis in plants.

Required Answer :-

a. Meristematic tissue

Meristematic tissue are found in plants.  The cells present inside the tissue is known as Meristem. The use of tissue is to maintain the length of plant.

Type of Meristematic tissue on the basis of origin

i) Promeristem

ii) Primary Meristem

iii) Secondary Meristem

Type of Meristematic tissue on the basis of position

i) Apical Meristem

ii) Intercalary Meristem

iii) Lateral Meristem

b. Periderm

The outer layer of tissue that protect the tissue is known as Periderm

c. Cutin

Cutin is one of waxy polymers that are components of the plant cuticle. They are made up of fatty acid. They are found in leaves, fruit, flower, stem

d. Lignin

They are polymer that are used to help and support the tissue of the plant. They are important for growing plant and bark

e. Chlorenchyma

Chlorenchyma is defined as the Parenchyma tissue that make up the  mesophyll tissue. It also contain chloroplast
