Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction in which a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element from its compound. Both metals and non-metals take part in displacement reactions. Example : Reaction of iron nails with copper sulphate solution.

Decomposition Reaction :-

Such a reaction in which a single compound decomposes to form two or more substances

E.g - 2H2O = 2H2 + O2

Displacement reaction :-

Such a reaction in which a highly reactive element displaces the less reactive element from it's salt solution

E.g - Fe + CuSO4 = FeSO4 + Cu
