✨Ionic bonding is a type of chemical bond in which valence electrons are lost from one atom and gained by another.

✨This exchange results in a more stable, noble gas electronic configuration for both atoms involved.

✨An ionic bond is based on attractive electrostatic forces between two ions of opposite charge.

The formation of an ionic bond can be explained by taking example of NaCl formation as we know there is atomic number of sodium is 11 and it contains one electron in the outermost shell to get stability according to update rule in outermost cell should be eight electrons.

the atomic number of chlorine is 17 and there 7 electrons are present in outermost shell of chlorine atom to obtain stability sodium loses 1 electron while chloride gains and electron.

due to the definition of electron sodium causes positive charge while chloride causes negative charge due to the gain of electron.

the charge spaces is known as iron and whereas two oppositely charged ions which attract each other and do the force of attraction a bond formed between two ions which is called ionic bond.

for e.g.--- Nacl

Mgcl2

hope it helps u.....
