Ribosomes are a cell structure that makes protein. Protein is needed for many cell functions such as repairing damage or directing chemical processes. Ribosomes can be found floating within the cytoplasm or attached to the endoplasmic reticulum Proteins are an essential part of all cells.

The ribosomes are numerous small granules either scattered freely in the cytoplasm or attached to the membranes of endoplasmic reticulum. These are the factories for the synthesis of proteins. These protein is needed for the functioning of the cells, such as repairing of damaged cells. It is also needed for directing chemical process. It also transmits the genetic code into the chain of amino acid.
