define the latent heat of fusion why temperature remain constant during melting of ice

The heat which is going into ice but not increasing its temperature, is the energy requred to change the state of ice form to liquid. And temprature dose not rises because the  heat is hidden in ice this is the reason it is called latent heat which means the hidden heat.
