Rate of doing work is called power.

In other words, power is defined as the work done in unit time.

Expression: P = W/∆T,

where P is the power, W is the work done, ∆T is the time period.

If the work done is a function of time, then we can use differentiation to calculate power

if W = f(t), then

Power = dW/dt = d f(t)/dt

Unit of Power : joules/sec or watts
