Relative poverty is a type of poverty in which the poor people of a country are unable to maintain the basic living standards of that country. The basic living expense of a country is used as a measure in measuring the relative poverty of a country. This way is considered as the easiest way to measure the poverty of the country.

Relative poverty is different from the concept of absolute poverty because of the reason that in absolute poverty the family isn't able to earn enough income to get the basic needs of life.
