Answer:

Cells are the basic building blocks of living things. The human body is composed of trillions of cells, all with their own specialised function. Cells are the basic structures of all living organisms. Cells provide structure for the body, take in nutrients from food and carry out important functions.

Answer ➡ Cell is defined as the structural and functional unit of life .

The different organelles that make a cell are :-

  • plastids
  • mitochondria
  • endoplasmic reticulum
  • Golgi complex
  • vacuole
  • ribosomes

Although cell organelles have specific structures and perform specific function but they cannot be called as structural and functional units of living organisms . This is so because they can perform their own functions only when they are within cell and in co-ordination with other organelles . Morever they cannot function outside the cell as an independent unit .
