Centriole is a vital cell organelle, which is cylindrical in shape and is made of tubulin protein.
It is found in pairs in all eukaryotic cells, surrounded by dense Pericentriolar material (PCM) to constitute a definite structure called centrosome.
Centrioles are mainly seen in animal cells and usually absent in most of the plants.
Centrioles form the cilia during Interphase of cell division, as well as star-shaped aster during the first stages of mitosis.
Spindle apparatus is also created by centrioles during animal cell division.
