Infection is defined as the invasion and multiplication of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites and these are not commonly found within the body. The occurrence of an infection may not cause any visible symptoms in general or it may be clinically apparent. It may be localized or it may spread through the blood or lymphatic vessels to become systemic throughout.
