The term metamorphosis is the development of an offspring in certain stages. The process is further explained: (example: frog)

Stage one: eggs

A frog lays its eggs through external fertilization and they are fused with the sperm of the male frog

Stage two: early tadpole

The egg start to develop and the first stage is defined as an early tadpole. The early tadpole resembles the figure of a spermatozoon, it has a tail, a head and a middle piece

Stage three: mid tadpole

The tadpole begins to grow and starts enlarging. The tadpole starts to develop legs at this stage

Stage four: late tadpole

The tadpole now has fully developed eggs and is almost matured. The body begins to develop fully

Stage five: adult frog

The tadpole is fully matured at this stage and can be called a frog at this point. The body is fully developed and the frog can undergo no other changes.
