Net sown area is the area actually available for cultivation.

It is most important land use pattern in India. NSA is 139.93 million hectares or 45. 74% (in 2012-2013) of the total land area in (2008-09)

The plains of Haryana in India have more percentage of the net sown area. This is calculated to keep track of the number of crops sown in a particular piece of land and form an estimate of the progress of agriculture and the overall economy of the country.
