  • Obliquity is an astronomical term labeling the angle of tilt of the Earth's axis of rotation.  
  • In technical terminology, it is the angle between the plane of the Earth's equator and the plane of the Earth's orbit around the Sun. The obliquity is about 23°27' but it is not fixed.
  • The angle of obliquity is defined as the angle between the direction of the subsequent stress or force acting on a given plane and the normal to that plane'.
