The term "bagging" refers to the process in which the stigma is covered with the help of a bag of suitable size in order to prevent interaction of the stigma with unwanted pollen grains.

• This process is carried out in flowers which have undergone emasculation.

• The bags used in this process are generally made up of butter paper because the oily surface of the butter paper helps in preventing accumulation of moisture.
