Answer:

operon can defined as spefic arrangement of both stuctural genes and regulatory genes in prokaryotic system

Explanation:

In prokaryotes the structural genes and fuctional  genes are specifically arranged in a particular format called operon.

There are many types of operon

Lac operon it contain 3 regulatory genes such as LAC I,LAC P  and LAC O.lac I encodes inhibitor,LAC P represent promoter and LAC O represent operator region .Lac operon also contain 3 structural genes known as LAC Z,LACY and LAC A

LAC Z it encodes beta d galactosidase which breaks lactose into glucose and galactose

LAC  Y   it encodes Permease which help in the treansport of glucose accross the cell

LAC A   it encodes Transacetylase which help in detoxification.

The other operons are Tryptophan operon, arabinose operon
