The minimum pressure which should be applied on the solution, so as to prevent the movement of the solvent molecules into the solution from solvent side through a semipermeable membrane is called osmotic pressure .
Molecular mass by osmotic pressure method

Where , V is the volume of solution
n is the number of moles of solute .
R is universal gas constant.
T ia temperature on the Kelvin scale ..
If w is the mass of the solute of molar mass M then .
n = w/M .
Therefore πV = w/m RT
M = wRT/π
thus knowing w, R ,T, π and V one can obtained M, the molar mass of the solute.
