Definition

Pressure is defined as a measure of the force applied over a unit area.

Simple Example of Pressure

A simple example of pressure may be seen by holding a knife to a piece of fruit. If you hold the flat part of the knife against the fruit, it won't cut the surface. The force is spread out of a large area (low pressure). If you turn the blade so the cutting edge is pressed into the fruit, the same force is applied over a much smaller surface area (vastly increased pressure), so the surface cuts easily.

Other examples

1.The air filled in car tires lifts the whole car weight.

2."Sucking a drink" through a straw -" fluid flows because" of the pressure difference.

3.The flying of aircraft due to the "pressure on the wings".

4."Small bullet fired" from a gun" with pressure.

Pressure is defined as the physical force exerted on an object. The force applied is perpendicular to the surface of objects per unit area. The basic formula for pressure is F/A (Force per unit area). Unit of pressure is Pascals (Pa).

Examples of pressure from everyday life:

  1. The air filled in car tires lifts the whole car weight.
  2. Sucking a drink through a straw
  3. Toy balloon inflates because of air pressure inside
  4. Aircraft fly because of the air pressure on the wings.
