Define the term $\Pi (Pi) bond$.

Pi bond is formed by parellel overlapping of unhybridized p or d orbitals. It doesnot has independent existence.

▪ First, an atom forms sigma bond by head-on overlapping of hybridized s or p orbital.

▪ After forming a sigma bond, an atom can further combine only through pi bonding. Unhybridized p or d orbital of same plane overlap parellely to give pi bond.
