Define the term 'turning force'.

The size of a moment is defined as the force × the perpendicular distance from the pivot. For static equilibrium there must be no resultant force  and no net turning  effect. When a force is used to turn an object about its axis the moment of that force  is often referred to as a torque.

Force can turns the object, if they r attacjed to the pivot like as push a door etc
