Examples:
(i) Divided by the Equator: Northern hemisphere and the Southern hemisphere.
(ii) Divided by the Prime Meridian or Greenwich line: Eastern hemisphere and western hemisphere.

The tropic of cancer refers to the parallel of latitude that divided the earth at 23°26′11.7″ (or 23.43658°) north of the Equator.
This corresponds to the northernmost declination of the Sun's ecliptic orbit on to the celestial equator.
The Tropic of Cancer passes through eight states in India - Gujarat , Rajasthan , Madhya Pradesh , Chhattisgarh , Jharkhand West Bengal , Tripura and Mizoram .
