Define the terms of Go,G1 chiasmata, synapsis and crossing over
Answers
Answer:
G0 phase is the the phase where the cell no longer divides but is in metabolically active.
G1 phase - It is also called pre DNA synthesis phase . It is the interval between mitosis and initiation of DNA replication. During this phase cell is metabolically active. Most of the cell organelles increase in the cell and the cell grows maximum.
Synapsis- It is characterised by pairing of homologous chromosome.
Crossing over- Due to increased attraction homologous chromosome tightly coil around each other . Both the chromatids of each chromosome bece distinct and are called sister chromatic . Recombination nodule between non sister chromatids of homologous pair develop and these non sister chromatids exchange their parts this is called crossing over.
Chiasmata- During diplotene stage of prophase 1 of meiosis 1 the homologous chromosome start repulsing each chiasmata.X shaped structures are appeared ,these are called chiasmata
