1. Hypotonic Solution- A solution of lower concentration than a cell (lower cell potential).

2. Hypertonic solution- It has a higher concentration of the solute than the fluid inside the cell.

3.Isotonic solution-

hypotonic solution: water molecules are free to pass across the cell membrane in both directions, if more water will come into the cell than will leave, the net result is that water will come into the cell. the cell will swell up
hypertonic solution: if the medium surrounding has a lower concentration of water than the cell, more water leaves the cell than enters it. so the cell shrinks.
isotonic solution: if the medium has exactly the same water concentration as the cell, the will not be any overall movement of water. the size of the water remains the same
