According to the theory of plate tectonics, the upper part of the earth or crust is made up of seven major and several minor plates.

•India was part of the old landmass called Gondwanaland.
•Gondwanaland consists of India, Australia, South Africa, South America, and Antarctica.
•Due to convectional current, it split into many pieces.
• the Indo-Australian plate moved towards north direction and collide with the Eurasian plate.
•The sedimentary rocks were accumulated and Himalayas were formed.

hope it helps you
