Answer:matter is anything which occupy space and has mass.

1)They can be divided on the basis of physical like solid, liquid and gas.

2)Solid is the type of matter where atom present very close to each other, has fix mass and volume. Because of present of very space between atom they are not able to compress so, compressibility is very small.

3) liquid state in which has fix mass and not fix volume. It take shape according to the vessel in which liquid is taken. There molecular is not as close as solid so they can be compress, hence compressibility is in middle.

4) gas state of matter has neither fix volume nor mass. There molecular are very far to each other. So when we compress it, they compress very easily. Hence gas has maximum compressibility from all three types.

5) so rigidity can be explane on the basis of volume, so solid has fix volume so it's most rigid, hold its shape. And as we move from solid to liquid there is increase of gap between the molecular hence rigidity decrease and gases has least rigidity.

6) so a common term for all the three state is matter.
