Lateral inversion is what u see in mirror.
Its inversion of the image.

Your right hand appears on left side and left on the right. This happens due to way of reflection of light.

When an object is positioned in front of a flat mirror, the left side of the image indicates to be the right side of the object, and the left side of the image seems to be the right side of the image. This shifts the sides of an object and its mirror images are known as lateral inversion..

Examples:

  • The letter ‘L’ shows the lateral inversion
  • Images produced by plane mirrors are laterally inverted.
