power can be regenerated from Tides water flowing in during high tide can be trapped behind a dam built across and narrow bay at low tide the water behind the dam stands higher than the water in the bay it is then made to fall into the bay the falling water turns the shaft of an electric generator this method can be used only where there is considerable difference between the water levels at high tide and low tide
