ANSWER
⚫ Torque.
◾ Torque acting on a body about an axis of rotation is defined as the product of magnitude of force acting on a particle and perpendicular distance between the line of action of force and the axis of rotation.
◾Torque is a vector quantity.
◾ Torque is the rotating ability force about a given axis.
⚫ Illustrations of Torque are :;;
◾Torque is applied using our hands to open or close a door.
◾ Torque is applied using a spanner to rotate the nut.

Torque:-
Torque is the twisting force that tends to cause rotation.
Characteristics of torque:-
1.The point where the object rotates is known as the axis of rotation.
2.Just as force is what causes an object to accelerate in linear kinematics, torque is what causes an object to acquire angular acceleration.
3.It is represented by the symbol ‘τ’.
4.Mathematically it can shown as:
τ = r x F
or
τ=|r||F|sin (Θ)
where ,
r is the position vector (a vector from the origin of the coordinate system defined to the point where the force is applied , F is the force vector.
5. The S.I. unit for torque is newton metre (N-m).
6.Right hand thumb rule is used to get the direction of torque.
