The movement of minerals from leaves and stems to other tissues in the plant is known as translocation.
It is important in plants as it helps in the transfer of vital nutrients like carbohydrates etc from leaves to other parts of the plants as the non-photosynthetic parts also require carbohydrates, organic and nonorganic minerals for their growth.
