Answer:

The loss of excess water by the process of evaporation , when the sun warms the water , from the aerial parts such as the leaves and stems of a plant is called transpiration. It is a means of excretion in plants. The excess water, that is left after using water for photosynthesis, is itself a waste which needs to be removed . By the process of transpiration the plants get rid of excess water. This process helps in cooling the plants. Other waste products released during photosynthesis also gets mixed with excess water and gets removed through evaporation in plants which is commonly called as transpiration. This process takes place only in the day time when Sun is visible as the warmth of sun is required to make the water evaporate.

Answer:

The loss of water in form of water vapour from the aerial parts of plant is called  transpiration.

Role of transpiration in plants are :

Transpiration help in the absorption and upward movement of water and mineral.

Transpiration maintains the temperaure  regulation in plant.

Excess water is removed out in the form of water vapour through the process of transpiration.

More information about transpiration:

About 80 to 90 % of total transpiration occurs through stomata.
