a computer network is a collection of two or more computers connected together in order to communicate and share the data and information.

wired network:

this uses physical cables to transfer data between different devices and computer systems.

• twisted pair: it has two types : shielded and unshielded.it is used to connect two network devices directly.
• coaxial cable: it consists of central copper wire sorrounded by an outer jacket.
• fiber optic cable: these use glass threads to transmit data. they are easy to install being light weight.

wireless network:

these mediums can, send or transmit data and resources at different speed and distance. a medium should be carefully selected depending upon what speed and distance the data is to transmitted.

• bluetooth: this is a wireless technology which uses radio frequencies to transfer data. we can transmit data using this with devices and the range should be 10 metres or less.
• radio waves: radio waves are electromagnetic signals that are transmitted using antenna.
• satellite communication: it is used to transmit signals to any part of earth's surface.
• 3G and 4G: these are the new generations of wireless technology. they have increased the speed of communication.
• wifi: wifi uses radio waves to allow two or more devices to communicate with each other.
• wimax: wimax is similar to wifi. it covers great distance and can cover large cities.
