Static friction is friction between two surfaces that aren't moving relatively to each other. Rolling friction is friction between a rolling object and the surface that it is rolling on. Sliding friction is the force that prevents a sliding object from moving. Fluid friction is the resistance to an object's motion through a liquid or gas. When the motion is occurring in a liquid, it is referred to as viscous resistance.
