Answer :-

The motion of a body along the circumference of the circle is called circular motion.

Uniform circular motion :- If a body covers equal distances in equal interval of time, then motion is said to be uniform circular motion.

In a uniform circular motion, speed remains constant but direction of velocity changes.

Uniform circular motion is called accelerated because in the circular motion direction of motion continuously changes. Due to change in direction, velocity also changes constantly. As we know that, acceleration is the rate of change of velocity, and in the circular motion velocity continuously changes, circular motion is called accelerated motion.

  • Define uniform circular motion. Why is it said to be an accelerated motion ?

\underline{\underline{\maltese\: \: \textbf{\textsf{Required\ Answers}}}}

Circular motion :-

  • The motion of a body in a circular position is called circular motion.

Uniform circular motion :-

  • If a body moves in a circular path and covers equal distances in equal interval of time with uniform speed, it's motion is called uniform circular motion.

Why uniform circular motion said to be an accelerated motion ?

  • Uniform circular motion is also called uniform accelerated motion because in a circular motion a body continuously changes its direction and so the velocity also changes continuously.
  • The circumference of a circle of radius r is given by 2πr. If a body takes time to go once around the circular path then the velocity v is given by, v = 2πr/t.
