\sf We \ know \ that \ Pressure = \frac{Force}{Area}\\\\\implies Pressure = \frac{Newton}{m^2}\\\\\implies Pressure = Newton/m^2 \\

So, SI unit of pressure is Newton/m². It is also said as Pascal (Pa).

⇒ 1 Pascal (Pa) = 1 Newton/m²

Now, 1 Pascal is defined as :-

1 Pascal is the force of 1 Newton applied on a surface of area 1 m².

Pressure :-

  • Pressure is scalar quantity. It doesn't has direction sense as it always acts perpendicular on the surface.
  • It depends directly on force applied and indirectly on the area. That is, more is the force, more is the pressure and more is the surface area, less is the pressure.
  • Other units of pressure are bar, atm etc.
