Vapour pressure means pressure exerted by the vapors of a substance at a particular temperature.
Factors affecting vapor pressure are as follows:
- Temperature: Vapour pressure and temperature are related directly. As the temperature increases, vapor pressure also increases.
- Intermolecular force: It is the presence of force between the molecules. If this force increases, vapor pressure decreases.
- Presence of solute: If a solute is present in the liquid, its vapor pressure will be low as compared to a pure liquid.
