Brain is the highest coordinating center in the body.
VARIOUS PARTS OF BRAIN –
1. Mid brain
2. Forebrain
(i) Cerebrum
(ii) Hypothalamus
3. Hindbrain
(i) Pons
(ii) Cerebellum
(iii) Medulla
FUNCTIONS―
1. MIDBRAIN–
•The mid brain controls relax movements of the head , neck and trunk is response to whiten and auditory stimuli.
• It also controls the relax movement of the eye muscles, changes in Pupil size and shape of the eye lens.
2. FOREBRAIN–
(i) Cerebrum-
•The cerebrum is the main thinking part of the brain.
• It controls our thinking and memory power.
(ii) Hypothalamus-
It controls certain metabolic processes and other activities of the Autonomic Nervous System.
3. HINDBRAIN–
(i) Pons-
The pons takes part in regulating respiration.
(ii) Cerebellum-
the cerebellum helps in maintaining posture and smooth body movement such as walking, dancing, riding a bicycle and picking up a pencil ,etc.
(iii) Medulla-
•Medulla controls various involuntary actions such as Heartbeat ,breathing ,blood pressure and peristaltic movement of alimentary canal.
