Venation :

Venation is the process of formation of veins on the leaf of the plants.

➥ Veins consists of vascular tissues.

➥ Venation conducts water through phloem.

➥ It plays an important role in the transport of water and minerals in plants.

➥ There are two types :

  • Reticulate venation.
  • Parallel venation.

Reticulate venation :

  • The arrangement of veins in network-like all over the lamella is called as Reticulate venation.
  • Example : Hibiscus, papaya etc.

Parallel venation :

  • The arrangment of veins in parallel to one another is called parallel venation.
  • Example : Grass, maize etc.
