Vulcanization is a chemical process . It includes converting natural rubber or related polymers into more durable materials by the addition of sulfur or other equivalent curatives or accelerators . These additives modify the polymer by forming cross-links (bridges) between individual polymer chains. Extent of stiffness of vulcanized rubber depends on the amount of sulphur added.

→ If we form cross links between each polymer chain, it also affects the mechanical properties of that particular element over which the vulcanization process is done.

→ The vulcanization process in which sulphur is used to increase durability of rubber, is known as sulphur vulcanization( also spelled as sulphur vulcanisation ).

→ Sulphur volcanization is generally defined as the chemical process which involves conversion of the rubber formed naturally into a somewhat more durable matter by heating it with sulphur.
