Answer:

Wavelength, period and frequency are closely related to each other. By definition, wavelength is just the distance between two identical points in the adjacent cycles of a wave, and period is the time it takes to complete one cycle of the wave. Frequency is then the number of cycles in a second.

Answer :-

Wavelength :-

⭐ Wavelength is the distance travelled by a wave during one complete vibration of the vibrating particle.

⭐ It is the distance between two consecutive compressions and rarefractions of a longitudinal wave.

⭐ Denoted by λ ( lambda ).

Time period :-

⭐ Time taken by vibrating particle to make one complete vibration is called time period.

⭐ Also, time taken by a wave to move a distance equal to its wavelength λ is called time period of the wave.

Relation between wave velocity, frequency and wavelength :-

Wave-velocity is defined as the distance travelled by the wave in one second.

\sf Wave\: velocity = \dfrac{Distance \:travelled\: by \:one \:wave }{Time \:taken \:by \:one \:wave}

\sf = \dfrac{Wavelength}{Time-Period}

or \sf v = \dfrac{\lambda}{T}

We know that, \sf n = \dfrac{1}{T}

\boxed{\sf v = n\lambda}

where -

  • v is wave velocity
  • n is frequency
  • λ is wavelength
