In physics we say that work is done on an object when you transfer energy to that object. If one object transfers (gives) energy to a second object, then the first object does work on the second object. Work is the application of a force over a distance. ... Energy can be defined as the capacity for doing work.

Answer:

WORK

Work is the product of force and displacement. A force is said to do positive work if (when applied) the force has a component in the direction of the displacement of the point of application. A force does negative work if the force has a component opposite to the direction of the displacement at the point of application of the force.

ENERGY

Energy is the quantitative property that must be transferred to an object in order to perform work on, or to heat, the object.[note 1] Energy is a conserved quantity; the law of conservation of energy states that energy can be converted in form, but not created or destroyed. The SI unit of energy is the joule, which is the energy transferred to an object by the work of moving it a distance of 1 metre against a force of 1 newton.
