Explanation:

The principle of work and kinetic energy (also known as the work-energy theorem) states that the work done by the sum of all forces acting on a particle equals the change in the kinetic energy of the particle.

Explanation:

WORK ENERGY THEROM:

According to the work-energy theorem,the work done by a force on a moving body is equal to the increase in its kinetic energy.

To see it let us find it:

Let a body of Mass (m) be moving with an initial velocity (u). When a constant Force (f) is applied on body along its direction of motion, it produce an accleration(a) and the velocity of the body change from u to v in moving a distance S .

Then:

Force (f) = Mass × acceleration =ma.....(i).

Work done by the force = Force × displacement .

W= f×S........(ii)

From the relation:

V^2 = u^2 +2aS.

Displacement S = V^2 -u^2/2a.

After substituting the value of (f) and S from the equs. (i) and (iii) in eqns (ii) we get

W = ma x {V^2 - u^2/ 2a}

= m(V^2 - u^2)1/2.

W = 1 mV^2/2 -1 mu^2/2.

This is the change is kinetic energy of a body.

Thank you.
