The process of stretching a molecule in the electric field so as it posses it's temporarily dipole moment is called as polarization.

The substances in the molecule of those, the centre of mass of positive central core and negative charge coincide are known as non-Polar substance. These substances donot posses any permanent dipole moment.

The molecule in those the central of mass of positive charge and negative charge are seperated are called as polar molecules. They have permanent dipole moment.
