A nephron is the basic unit of structure in the kidney. A nephron is used separate to water, ions and small molecules from the blood, filter out wastes and toxins, and return needed molecules to the blood. The nephron functions through ultrafiltration.

The nephron refers ot the microscopic and the functional structure of the kidney which helps in separating the ions, water and the other smaller molecules from the blood.
It helps in filtering out the toxins and the wastes and then help in returning the molecules that are needed to the blood stream.
