A concave mirror is that spherical mirror in which the reflection of light takes place at the concave surface i.e. bent-in surface. Pole: It is the center of the reflecting surface of the concave mirror also called vertex of mirror, generally denoted by letter 'P'.

Definition:

When ever considering the surface then the point on the spherical surface of the mirror passing through which principle axes passes is known as the pole of the concave mirror.

In other words center point of the spherical surface or mirror is nothing but the pole of the concave mirror.

And it is mid point for opening of the mirror surface.
