Faulting➙ A crack in the earth's crust resulting from the displacement of one side with respect to the other.

❖ It is the production of a fault or faults in a rock formation.
❖ It is a fracture in rock where there has been movement and displacement.
❖ When an earthquake occurs on one of these faults the rock on one side of the fault slips with respect to the other.
❖ A fault lies at the major boundaries between Earth's tectonic plates in the crust & the earthquakes result from the plates movements.
❖ Large faults within the Earth's crust result from the action of plate tectonic forces with the largest forming the boundaries between the plates.
❖There are three different types of faults:-
➙ Normal
➙ Reverse
➙ Transcurrent
