The numbers of the form a/b, where b ≠ 0 and a,b are whole numbers is called a fraction. For fraction a/b, a is called numerator and b is called denominator of the fraction.
Proper fraction : If the numerator of a fraction is smaller than the denominator then fraction is called proper fraction.
For example :
Improper fraction : If the numerator of a fraction is greater than the denominator then fraction is called improper fraction.
For example :
Like fraction : Fractions with same denominators are called like fractions
For example :
Unlike fraction : Fractions with different denominators are called like fractions.
For example :
Unit Fraction : Fraction whose numerator is one is called unit fraction.
For example :
Mixed Fraction : Fraction having whole number along with proper fraction is known as mixed fraction.
For example :
Equivalent Fractions : A given fraction and fraction obtained by multiplying or dividing its numerator and denominator by the same non zero integer are called equivalent fraction.
