1. According to Ruth Strang, counseling is a face-to-face relationship due to which growth takes place in the counselor as well as the counsellee.
2. According to Harriman, counseling is the psychotherapeutic relationship in which an individual receives direct help from an adviser or finals an opportunity to release negative feelings and thus clear the way for positive growth in overall personality.
