When 2 light waves of Same frequency along with same phase difference superimpose over each other,then the resultant amplitude or intensity in the region of superimposition is different from the amplitude or intensity of individual waves.

these are of 2 types....
1. constructive interference
2. destructive interference

interference is the phenomenon in which two or more wave combine to form a resultant wave of greater or lower or same amplitude.
